Intro Text

Slippery Swiss shredding at Lenzerheide today as riders tried to find purchase in the loose, gravely mountainside during the first practice session of the fifth World Cup DH of 2017.

Welcome to Lenzerheide. Eddie Masters, who had not mastered the rock garden yet in practice held on until the last moment! #upwardtrajectory -Dan Hearn
Matt Walker (the elder, kiwi variety) with the Scandi Air Steeze before a slippery right-hander up top. -Sven Martin
#panshotfriday with Mick Hannah @maddogboris
Laurie Greenland flying sideways on the full gas step-up. -Sven Martin
If Finn shouts at you out of the window of the gondola to stay at the jump and wait for him, you better wait. Most stylish dude on the jump! @maddogboris
Connor Fearon checking out the times from today. Unfortunately he's not 100% fit, but let's wait for Finals on Saturday to see him rip the corners! @maddogboris
Corner to tuck to whip. Even if it's not Loris' favorite track of the season, we wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on the podium. @maddogboris
Peaty in audio keeping us entertained and informed as only he can. -Dan Hearn
Brook, like a few this year, chose the inside line to avoid the sketchy fade-away at the end of the high-speed tuck berm. Masses of rocks make this a risky line too, however, as the debris scattered about is never the same. -Dan Hearn
#onejumpthreeguys Blenki @maddogboris
Troy Brosnan setting up for the big double (old triple) with a low scrub to hold as much speed as possible. It worked with the fastest timed training run. -Sven Martin
Pom Pon dances over the root fest entering the woods. -Dan Hearn
Bernard, still injured but stoked to be hanging out in the pits and working on the fitness for Worlds in Cairns. @maddogboris
Young Kaos Seagrave getting the most sideways out there today. Perpendicular. -Sven Martin
Tahnee was perhaps the only girl to clear the big triple. It's more of a double this year with the second landing knuckle shaved right off. -Sven Martin
Eliot Jackson on the fastest part of the track right near the speed traps. Two options here; inside shorter but with more loose rocks or outside here that may get blown out come race. -Sven Martin
Loic with the subtle functional scrub before the big triple. -Sven Martin
Danny Hart making sure he makes it on Vital RAW, whipping it out in front of John Lawlor. -Sven Martin
Tahnee early this morning on perhaps the trickiest part of the course. -Sven Martin
Put a big jump anywhere on a track and Mick will suicide it. Does not matter the speed, size, set-up or landing. -Sven Martin
Loic Bruni looking fast and smooth as always. Perfect technique for the inside option on the stump-drop-corner. -Sven Martin
Brayton, Gassing it to flat. Sorry for the caption cheese, it's 2 am. -Sven Martin
With XC and DH this weekend, the techs have been busy. Todd with today's work tickets alone. -Sven Martin
Trummer or Atwill? And what is the giveaway clue? Answer in the comments. -Sven Martin
Mondraker have the best lake view from the backdoor of their pits, perfect for a quick breakfast before the long day begins. -Sven Martin
Rachel's shoulder(s) are taking quite a beating here. She did fewer runs than usual and skipped timed training all together. -Sven Martin
Robbie Mead, Trek Factory Racing filmer, getting all the angles with the help of some super secret bonding material. -Sven Martin
A nasty crash for Gaetan Vige, but he was not the only one to have troubles on his final training run. -Dan Hearn
The aftermath of Brendog's last practice run. His mechanic Ben seems to be used to it, still smiling. @maddogboris
One of the last guys on the hill today, Marcelo Guiterrez... @maddogboris
...but after a long day of downhill practice, Marcelo can't sit still and enjoys a run around the lake. @maddogboris
At the first World Cup here in Lenzerheide a couple years ago this stump drop was Troy Brosnan's secret line and he was a bit angry that I used it in the Vital slideshow back then. Now 90% of the guys doing it and Greg shouldn't be angry with me. @maddogboris
#onejumpthreeguys George Brannigan adjusting his junk and 3rd in timed training. @maddogboris
#onejumpthreeguys Brendog @maddogboris
Oh yeah, our camera sensors love the Swiss dust. In that corner, it was actually impossible to shoot two riders who were riding close together. #focusallovertheplace @maddogboris
Mark Wallace focused and ready for another Top 10 on Saturday. @maddogboris
Second run down the hill and already doing the gnar line. Tahnee drops in! @maddogboris
We already told you that Geeman is back and it looks like that he has never been away. @maddogboris
Start with a view here in Lenzerheide! Myriam Nicole droppin in... @maddogboris
Milo the dog has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. The pits are relaxed once practice is over and most riders have left - just a few final tweaks to bikes before work is done for the day. -Dan Hearn
Wyn Masters whipping sideways over the bridge. -Dan Hearn
Another inside liner: Finn Iles was the only junior to regularly take this line. Riders were hitting 55-60kph around the berm - perhaps a bit less on the inside. -Dan Hearn
Even without the bike, it's easy to tell the XC and DH racers apart. #yoked -Dan Hearn
A huge crowd gathered at the first technical rock garden to check out the new lines after B practice. -Dan Hearn
There was some serious dust on track, especially on the flat out berm before the whip bridge. Alex Marin speeds past in training. -Dan Hearn
Tracey Hannah was the only Elite female to complete three timed training runs. She likes to get her line choices and practice done early so she can back off the number of runs on quali and race day. -Dan Hearn
