First Look: Alpinestars Mountain Bike Apparel and Protection

View as: Slideshow | One Page
After debuting their first public MTB apparel collection in 2010, Alpinestars has been making a big push to expand their range to include technical wear and protection for every type of riding.
Here's a quick look at a handful of their current pieces that stand out.
The Pathfinder Short features four way stretch, multi-panel construction, seamless seat panel, and mesh waist lining.
These light and rugged shorts go for $114.95. They're incredibly comfortable and the four way stretch is quite nice.
T-shirt or jersey? The Manual Tech Tee blurs the line with a casual look and a blend of cotton and poly-fabric for comfort and moisture wicking. MSRP $34.95.
We also dig the $37.95 Gravity Gloves with their thin reinforced Clarino palm, light mesh/spandex full top, and silicone printed finger tips.
The $49.95 Pathfinder Jersey uses an advanced poly-fabric and mesh inserts to improve breathability and moisture wicking.
Reinforced with DuPont Kevlar fiber, the $64.95 Alpinestars Alps Knee Guard is built to withstand abuse. The fit is snug to keep them still, but range of motion is still good.
The Alps pads have a stretchy mesh back and velcro straps to keep them secure.
This All Mountain Jacket is ready for wet days in the saddle.
The waterproof shell has rubber coated zipper, storm hood, and shock cord adjustments on the waist and collar.
At $199.95 it's not cheap, but it's among the best fitting shells we've worn and details are well thought out.
The Alpinestars line of mountain bike apparel and protection is available globally through distributors and www.alpinestars.com.
What's next? Look for improvements to the existing lineup for 2015 as well as some exciting new items for every discipline.
