First Look & Launch Video: 2013 Fox Rampage Pro Carbon Helmet

The all-new Fox Rampage Pro Carbon is finally here. Pretty rad, right? We caught up with designer Dennis Tan and the Fox Racing crew for a closer look at the new lid.

Smooth! After three years of design, development, countless revisions, and testing, it's ready to go.

Even things as small as the adjustable visor were tweaked a few times. The angle adjustment ensures you're always in the "Cool Zone." That's smart.

Fox's ultimate lid uses a UD carbon fiber shell and EPS foam internally.

You've gotta admit, this thing looks great.

The ultimate goal? To "make the best fitting lid they could."

Ahh... Laguna Beach, California. We spent an afternoon shuttling with a handful of Fox's biggest names while trying out the new helmet.

Up until now, Josh Bryceland always wore a motocross helmet. Following a few tests in the Rampage Pro Carbon, he was convinced and made the switch to a MTB specific lid.

Rat Boy was among the first to test out the helmet publicly back in June.

Stevie Smith was in on the testing action as well. Everything came together in a package that passes the ATSM-1952, EN 1078, AS/NZ 2063, and CPSC 1203 safety standards. Whew!

Fox added deep channels for additional strength in the chin area.

As an added benefit, the front profile helps to bring more air into the helmet.

Freestyle motocross legend and Fox athlete Ronnie Renner sends a steep section like a champ on a borrowed Giant Glory. The dude can ride well!

A total of 17 vents and channels keep the lid super cool. We could actually hear the wind rushing through at speed. It was engineered to remove any and all hot spots.

With a perfect fit as its primary goal, the Rampage Pro Carbon is manufactured using two shell sizes and three unique EPS dimensions.

A total of four color options are available, including this snazzy number.

On hot days and when you're pinned, the Dri-Lex interior liner wicks moisture away from your skin. Renner on the gas.

No squirrel cheeks here (get it?). The cheek pads are engineered to wrap under your jawline, providing a secure feel. On the trail, the helmet felt comfortably solid.

Goggle fit was spot on with no interference. Peripheral vision was a non-issue as well.

Since the Val di Sole World Cup in early June, Fox has amassed 14 podiums in the Rampage Pro. T-Mac and Stevie helped with several of those. Yeah boys!

Is there a cheaper fiberglass version in the works? It sounds like it, but it may be a ways off.

As Cam McCaul will attest, it's easy to forget that you're wearing a full face in the 1145 gram Rampage Pro.

"Your head is kind of important, it has your brain in it." - Cam quoted for truth.

It's even cool enough to have heated rock paper scissors battles to decide who gets shotgun. Hah!

Bottom line, this thing looks great, fits incredibly well, and meets the safety standards. That's a win in our book.
