American audiences can look forward to the opportunity to watch the World Cup events, including Elite cross country, cross country eliminator and downhill races, in person when the races return to Windham, N.Y. Aug. 7–10.  Windham is the eighth stop on the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano tour that also visits Pietermaritzburg, South Africa; Cairns, Australia; Nove Mesto na Morave, Czech Republic; Albstadt, Germany; Fort William, Great Britain; Leogang, Austria; Mont- Sainte-Anne, Canada; Méribel, France; and Hafjell, Norway.

Windham World Cup organizers are planning numerous community events again this year including an indoor/outdoor expo, a block party in downtown Windham, a live concert, Race the World amateur cross-country and downhill races, and a Kids’ Fun Race.  Additional activities for racers and spectators alike will celebrate the uniqueness of the Windham area throughout the weeklong event, including a Ride the Plank Challenge, where riders attempt to cross a pond on wooden planks supported only by inflatable tubes floating on water and the Red Bull Berm Burners, an individual head-to-head pursuit dirt cycling race that tests the rider’s ability between two fast, steep berms. There are no fees charged to the public for the World Cup, related events or the expos. To help defray the tremendous organizing costs and to keep the World Cup in the U.S., a minimal fee is charged for parking. For more information on the Windham event, visit www.racewindham.com
