Sam Blenkinsop Wins 2014 Oceania Downhill Championship 1

Sam Blenkinsop has secured the win at the 2014 Oceania Downhill Championships held at Mt. Hutt, New Zealand, in weather conditions that turned the lower half of the course into a bit of a lottery. Persistent rain over night saw the track deteriorate and Blenki's winning time was a good 20 seconds off the pace set by Cam Cole in qualifying. While the race ended up in a mudbath (literally!) and thus hard to treat as a real measure of how people are riding, it's good to see Brook MacDonald and Cam Cole getting comfortable again, after both riders sustained serious injuries last season. All signs point to a banger start to the World Cup season in two weeks' time!

Turns out "mudbath" is not just a figure of speech...
