FINAL RESULTS: Jared Graves and Cecile Ravanel Win EWS Aspen 1

Total stage domination for Graves on day 1 - photo Lee Trumpore

Round 5 of the 2016 Enduro World Series saw the racers head to Colorado to battle it out at altitude. With fast, dusty, blown out and very physical stages, Aspen would prove to be a stern test of man and machine. Jared Graves loves racing here, and he made it known from stage one on day one. A day later and with five stage wins out of six, he finally got the result that had so far eluded him this year. Nico Lau and Jerome Clementz held it down for the French on the podium, while Martin Maes signed a strong return from injury in 4th. Series leader Richie Rude took a big crash earlier in the week and was racing with a bum shoulder (and without having practiced the majority of the stages!), but he managed to bring it home in 25th place which was enough for him to hold onto his overall lead.

In the women's the only way they could keep Cecile Ravanel from winning all 6 stages was to cancel the last one! A crash and a long course hold meant that the ladies race was reduced to 5 stages. Behind the ever-dominant Ravanel, Anita Gehrig finally made her first EWS podium and with style too, since she finished 2nd ahead of Isabeau Courdurier. Anneke Beerten looked strong early on in her return to racing after battling a virus, but she ultimately had to settle for 5th.
