RACE RESULTS: Barel and Moseley Win Inaugural EWS Event in Punta Ala 27

Sunday, May 19, 2013

Well, the first ever Enduro World Series race is in the bag, and it sure seems to have lived up to all the hype. In the men's, we have Fabien Barel, World Champ DH racer to Enduro convert on the top spot of the podium followed by the Enduro specialist Jerome Clementz and Jared Graves, 4Xer-turned-Enduro-racer in third. In the women's Anne-Caro Chausson retired after a crash on stage 1, leaving the door open for Tracy Moseley, World Champ DHer-come-Enduro racer to win from World Champ DHer Emmeline Ragot and World Cup XCer Cecile Ravanel in third.
Of note:
Jared Graves - what a machine! All that training sure looks to have paid off, and it looks like the message is out loud and clear: Graves is not to be trifled with. Martin Maes pips team mate Dan Atherton to 4th spot, not bad for a 16-yr old (including a crash on PS4). Ben Cruz brings home 6th for the US of A. Blenki in 7th - tidy for the DHer, beating some of Enduro's biggest names in the process.
Tracy's time puts her in 85th spot overall, 3.43 off Barel. Emmeline Ragot was a further minute back, 113th overall.
A few words from your winner, Fabien Barel, thanks to SuperenduroMTB.com:

Alex Cure takes down some heavy World Cup talent in the urban prologue at Punta Ala as competition in the Enduro World Series gets underway!

Anne Caroline Chausson wins the women's Prologue. Women's times are lumped into the full results. Anne Caroline placed 67th out the 400 competitors on the list. Emmeline Ragot was the 2nd fastest women in 80th and Tracy Moseley was 3rd.

## UPDATE ## - Sven just wrote saying "Anne did it in the rain. Dudes did it in dry." - AWESOME!

The times of this short urban Prologue count toward competitors overall enduro times this weekend. Originally, there were to be 5 stages, but weather concerns forced the elimination of one of the stages. Racers now have 4 timed stages on Sunday and each timed stage is approximately 4-5 minutes in length.
