Ok, looking at the results sheets: the columns represent each race of the season, right? Then the bold number is the points earned for that race? And the number in parentheses is the place the rider got at that race, right? Cause it seems Gwins listing for yesterdays race is not right?

I got confused too, it's actually the rank of the rider for the entire weekend based on points, so its the "place" counting qualies+finals which is why gwin and brosnan have high places despite poor finals results

Kind of a bummer that the end of race was a little anti-climatic with Gwin just cruising. No doubt he earned it, but given Harts performance this season it's tough that the series was all but decided before the weekend.

Not sure, it would have been unfair for Gwin to lose the entire championship due to rain had the points been closer.

Haven't followed the UCI rules too specifically for a while....why does 1st place pay different points at different races?

You get points for both qualifying and final runs, so thats where the variation comes in. Your overall score for each race is an accumulation of points for both runs, I think it was introduced to stop riders from purposefully qualifying badly so that they could come down earlier under better race conditions/weather.

Oh yeah, forgot about the quali points. Yeah, I think it was good to introduce point for qualifying; haven't seen anything crazy happen since they started doing it from what I've seen.
